About

What can V.E.T. do
for your horse?

A routine dental examination consists of a full examination, routine rasping and balancing, a light sedation and the production of a digital chart detailing your horses’ mouth and subsequent management recommendations. All routine dentals are carried out at your own yard – we just ask that there is some secure footing and access to water please

Just like your own visits to your dentist, the emphasis of routine equine dentistry should be on examination and routine care rather than a solitary treatment.

There is much discussion around sedation for equine dental examinations and there are three good reasons why this is an important part of your dental package:

  1. it is safer both for your horse and you
  2. it allows for a thorough examination and subsequent treatment to take place
  3. a light sedative will reduce your horses’ anxiety and relax the muscles

Why use V.E.T?

In the same way that you wouldn’t ask your GP to work on your own teeth, how can you ensure that you have the most appropriate person to provide the dental care for your horse?

Do you know the difference between an RCVS Advanced veterinary practitioner in equine dentistry, a qualified Equine Dental Technician or anyone else?

How do you check an equine dental care provider’s qualifications?

As an RCVS advanced practitioner in equine dentistry, Vicki has postgraduate qualifications in equine dentistry recognized and ratified by the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons. Advanced practitioners also have to meet strict criteria set by the RCVS to maintain their advanced practitioner status beyond the normal requirements for veterinary surgeons.

V.E.T. provides continuity of care with the same experienced, qualified equine veterinary surgeon looking after your horse EVERY Time.

Your equine dental provider, farrier, vet, physio, saddler are all part of a team to help you and your horse reach your potential.

Select the best team that suits you – it’s your choice.
