About Vicki
Vicki Nicholls is a qualified veterinary surgeon with more than 18 years of equine veterinary experience in the UK and USA. After stints in New Jersey, Wiltshire and Cheshire, Vicki relocated to South Wales from the University of Liverpool to be nearer to her family.
Vicki is a Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS) Recognized Advanced Practitioner in Equine Dentistry and Equine internal Medicine. She is also a module coordinator and tutor for the veterinary postgraduate equine dentistry programme at the University of Liverpool.
Vicki served as elected President of the British Equine Veterinary Association (BEVA) in 2016-2017 and was a peer elected member for 7 years. This included her role as chair of the Allied Paraprofessional Committee from 2013 to 2016 where she was heavily involved in framework discussions for the regulation of paraprofessionals.
Vicki has a specific interest in geriatric equine dentistry and co-authored a chapter on equine dentistry in Veterinary Clinics of North America; Equine Practice in 2016 (see below). Vicki has also lectured in equine dentistry at BEVA congress (2014-2017), currently teaches on the BEVA veterinary postgraduate education courses and has co-authored a special dental edition of Equine Veterinary Journal with renowned equine dental specialist Professor Paddy Dixon.
After passing the BEVA/BVDA examination in equine dentistry in 2010, Vicki has continued as an active member of the British Association of Equine Dental Technicians, including the examination process of their students.
Vicki set up V.E.T. in 2019 in order to provide a boutique dental service for a select number of clients in order to combine her appetite for providing a professional and dedicated approach to equine dentistry with her teaching commitments and young family. She is delighted to be back in the Vale of Glamorgan after 18 years away.
